Tyler Man Gets 14 Years for Fleeing Police with Large Amount of Weed
August 29, 2024 - Tyler, TX - Jerroderick Antoine Bright, a 25-year-old Tyler man, was sentenced to 14 years in prison in Judge Austin Reeve Jackson’s court after pleading guilty to a 2023 marijuana possession and police evasion incident. Bright was arrested on February 17, 2023, following a chase with Smith County deputies and the discovery of approximately 52 pounds of marijuana. In court, Bright accepted a plea deal, receiving 14 years for marijuana possession and 10 years for evading arrest, with the sentences running concurrently and credit for time served.
