At the start of the Primary Runoff Election, District Attorney Jacob Putman, Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith, have announced their endorsements for Candidate Austin Reeve Jackson, who is running for 114th District Court Judge.

Putman’s endorsement was announced Saturday evening.

“I have known Reeve Jackson and his family for many years, and I am proud to endorse him for the 114th District Court. He has extensive experience in criminal law, a long standing commitment to serving Smith County, and a devotion to conservative principles,” said Putman. “While these make him qualified to be a district judge, I choose to endorse him for his character. Throughout his career and campaign, he has demonstrated the integrity and temperament necessary to serve justice faithfully. As Smith County District Attorney, I see the decisions our judges make every day, and I understand the importance of having judges who rise above politics to ensure justice is done.”

Jackson replied, “This endorsement means a great deal as Jacob knows first-hand how important experience is when it comes to a judge’s role in supporting law enforcement and safeguarding our criminal justice system.” Jackson continued on to explain that Putman’s support was also due to his character, ethics and temperament for the job, “As a lawyer, father, and a person of faith, there is no greater compliment.”

“Reeve Jackson is a 3rd generation jurist and I am honored and proud to endorse him for Judge of the 114th District Court. He has extensive experience in criminal law as well as a long standing history and commitment to serving the citizens of Smith County. One thing I like most about Reeve Jackson is his long standing devotion to his family and to conservative principles."

Smith continues, “As your Smith County Sheriff, I work with law enforcement daily to protect our community. The decisions our judges make every day are very important. It is of the utmost importance to have judges who keep politics out of their decision making process to ensure justice is served.”

Jackson noted, “To receive the support of a man who understands what it means to be a servant of the community is something I am very grateful for. After spending over a decade in the Smith County community donating my time and efforts to numerous community organizations, I am eager to extend my service and love for Smith County into the greater role of District Judge.”
