Former East Texas Nurse Sentenced to Death for Killing Four Patients
One of the most prominent cases to come across my desk as the 114th District Court Judge is that of William George Davis. Davis was a former ICU nurse at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas, where he worked in the Cardiovascular ICU wing. While working at the hospital, he killed four patients under his care by injecting air into their arterial lines after undergoing heart surgery. The jury of the 114th District Court found him guilty of capital murder, and he was sentenced to death.
I commend the jury for their verdict, and I am proud to support local law enforcement and the district attorney’s office for all their work on this case. It is a horrible crime to use a nursing degree for murder and not to help those who are hurting and vulnerable find healing.
