Tyler Man Gets 75 Years Stacked onto Federal Conviction for Child Sex Crime

April 25, 2024 - Tyler, TX - 28-year-old Malcolm Kadeem Roberts received a 75-year prison sentence in Judge Austin Reeve Jackson’s court. This sentence is on top of his existing federal conviction for involvement in a child sex trafficking ring.

Initially indicted in July 2021 on six child sex-related charges, Roberts pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on a child in Judge Jackson’s court. During sentencing, Judge Jackson emphasized Roberts’ lack of remorse and deemed him a threat to the community. Roberts had previously been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, with his involvement including recruitment, transportation, and financial benefit from children engaging in commercial sex acts alongside his co-defendant Desnique Herndon, who is awaiting sentencing. Roberts’ state and federal sentences are to be served consecutively, with his 75-year state term commencing immediately.
